About

Killing Floor

Killing Floor is a survival horror total conversion set in London, England.

In a laboratory under the city, a series of human experiments in cloning and biological augmentation are being conducted by the employees of "Horizon". Horizon is a BioTech corporation formerly employed by the government to do the R&D on a top secret series of synthetic combat drugs which would enhance the effectiveness of soldiers in the field.

Horizon's funding was cut, when their practices were deemed too immoral even for such a controversial project, but the research didn't stop. Funded by private money from the deep pockets of Horizon chairman and research scientist Kevin Clamely, tests continued in a more...private location.

That was until something went wrong. There were reports that the lab had been comprimised; that the subjects were behaving abnormally...then, silence.

Several days later, twisted shapes began to emerge from the confines of the lab into the city above.

How it plays

Killing Floor is a Total Conversion of the Unreal Tournament 2004 game. Playing as a squad of marines, you must use firepower and teamwork to drive back massive hordes of bloodthirsty zombies.

Killing Floor features some of the most detailed and atmospheric environments you will see in a horror themed mod, and the objective is to make something that is not only visually pleasing, but also rewarding and fun from a gameplay standpoint.

Ammo conservation is important in Killing Floor. Do not waste bullets on slow moving enemies you can simply circumvent.

Your movement speed is relative to your current health. The more damage you sustain, the slower you will move. Knowing how to use your MedSatchel is important as it keeps your speed up when you need to flee.

The objective in multi-player is to survive as long as possible against continual "waves" of undead enemies. The number of enemies in a given wave is random, and the number you must defeat before the round ends will be displayed in the UPPER RIGHT corner of your HUD.

Upon defeating the required number of foes, the wave will end, and shortly thereafter the next will begin, bringing more difficult foes.

In order to fight off these increasingly challenging enemies, you and your fire-team must accrue "points" by killing zombies. The number of points you gain per kill depends on the difficulty of the enemy. Points accrued by players can be spent at the Merchant's. There is at least one in each Survival map. A player may spend their money/points by pressing the USE key (default E) in front of her.

Added in 2.5

  • Added "Veterancy" system, with 5 selectable classes, and perks.
  • Added enemy "gibbing", and more responsive gore effects.
  • Added support for non-Survival based Killing Floor maps, with a new gametype "Story"
  • Added new player models (Hazmat, Masterson, Stalker)
  • Added new weapon "Flamethrower" available to buy from the "speed" category of the Trader shop.
  • Added new server options for setting downtimes between waves, enabling veterancies, and setting the total number of max zombies which can spawn at a single time.
  • Added "Iron sights" scopes to the "Bullpup", and LAW weapons. Can be activated with secondary fire. You may only fire the LAW while holding the "Iron sight".
  • Added "Accuracy" system to the game, which augments weapon aim and recoil depending on player movement speed, and physics state.
  • Added "Armor condition bar" above player's health state, on the third person HUD.
  • Added new attack types for several zombie classes
  • Added "Tactical Light" to the 9mm and Dual 9mm weapons. This can be activated with secondary fire, and has a limited, but regenerating battery.
  • Addded improved Bot AI code. Killing Floor bots will now fight at range, where possible, switch to melee weapons when cornered, heal other players, and themselves if injured, and respond to the threat at hand.
